Founded in 2007, Do U Yoga cultivates a passion for living yoga among new beginners and experienced yogis by offering one-day and multi-day retreats that combine yoga with life activities such as Hiking, Snowboarding, and Surfing. Our trips bridge the transformational qualities of the outdoors and nature with the inner work of a yoga practice. This combination of experiences synergizes what is with what’s possible. Our clients return home feeling rejuvenated and inspired to explore and reveal their full potential.

Sustainability

At Do U Yoga, we recognize our responsibility as a global citizen and we have implemented practices to reduce our environmental impact.

Carbon Offsets - To offset the emissions from our transport vehicles, Do U Yoga purchases carbon credits in global projects which are certified to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Recycling - The various ways we recycle include printing business cards on recycled paper using soy inks, recycling printer cartridges, and separating out recyclables from our trip trash.

Energy Efficiency - The wind powers our office, we use fans instead of A/C, and low-mercury CFL and LED bulbs provide energy-efficient lighting.

Our Team

Kelly Dwyer, founding yogini
Kelly experienced her first yoga "buzz" in 1998. High on the peace and happiness that pervaded her body, mind, and spirit, Kelly began to practice yoga with increasing frequency. In 1999, Kelly moved to Los Angeles, a hotbed for yoga practice. Blessed with access to the many inspired yoga teachers in Los Angeles such as Max Strom, Shiva Rea, and Steve Ross, Kelly's passion for yoga blossomed. In 2003, Kelly was certified to teach yoga by the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centers. When the call came, Kelly moved to New York City, and since 2006, Kelly has immersed herself in Anusara yoga studies with respected Anusara teachers including Ellen Saltonstall, Lois Nesbitt, Julie Dohrman, and Bindu Wiles.

Kelly guides students to move through asanas (poses) with grace and ease, paying attention to connecting the breath with the body’s movements. It is this conscious connection between the breath and physical movements that defines yoga as yoga, and not just exercise.

Using intentions and dedications, Kelly creates a special journey for each session; integrating spirit into the class in an accessible manner. This allows individuals to manifest positive change in their lives, and to transition smoothly out of and into day-to-day life. Kelly teaches a balanced class and her goal is that every student leaves feeling energized, centered, and ready to continue or to begin again their personal growth.

As a lululemon athletica ambassador alumni, (www.lululemon.com), Kelly works in conjunction with lululemon to further their mission of helping people live longer, healthier, and more fun lives. Kelly can be seen around town at a variety of lululemon events and parties.

In addition to being a yoga teacher and a licensed outdoor guide, Kelly enjoys the role of life coach. Specifically, Kelly is certified as a New World Institute Coach, (www.thenewworldinstitute.com). As a coach, Kelly helps people to find and fulfill their life dreams. The work is transformational and the results are truly amazing.

Anna, yoga teacher
Anna was born and raised in Russia. She came to New York just for her 19th birthday, fell in love with the city of lights, and never looked back!

Anna’s dedication to yoga developed over time and by a circuitous route. After years of smoking cigarettes, eating junk food, and living a sedentary lifestyle, Anna resolved that it was time to improve her health. She began to run, to workout at the gym, and to change her nutrition. In 2000, after sustaining knee and back injuries from running and over exercising, Anna’s physical therapist suggested she try yoga. The health and peace she found through yoga ignited a passion that continues to burn strong!

Anna instructs students to protect and honor the body, and to connect breath with movement. Her classes incorporate the styles of Vinyasa Krama, Vinyasa, and Viniyoga, and include chanting, pranayama (breathing), meditation and asana (poses). This multi-faceted approach allows students to experience many different aspects of yoga. Her intention is for all students to leave feeling energized, centered, and rejuvenated.

Anna is 200-hour certified through Yoga Sutra, and she is currently pursuing her 500-hour credential. She has been blessed to study with Christopher Hildebrandt, Guta Hedewig, David Hollander, Dr. Jeffrey Rubin and Srivatsa Ramaswami, as well Dr. Edwin Bryant in the lineage of TKV Desikachar, BKS Iyengar, and K Pattabhi Jois.
